A decadent and indulgent expression of South African winemaking, crafted from grapes grown on the decomposed granite slopes of the Darling Hills, where cooling Atlantic breezes shape their character. A portion of the fruit is left to naturally raisin on the vine, lending richness and intensity before being blended with oak-matured Pinotage. The result is seductively smooth and full-bodied, with alluring aromas of Turkish delight, chocolate, red cherry and vanilla, followed by layers of plum, butterscotch and supple tannins. Decades ago, a tractor launching a ski-boat off Yzerfontein was caught in a high tide and was never recovered - it can be spotted occasionally when tide is low. A rich and complex wine with ripe plum and dark berry flavours, forest floor and kelp with underlying toasted oak notes finishing with a smooth and textured palate from integrated barrel maturation. These concentrated flavours follow through on the palate combined with a fine tannin structure, gives this wine a rich and complex finish.

The grapes for this prestigious Primitivo do not get harvested once ripe, but are left on the vine so that their ripening can go on. After about 15 days, grapes are over-ripened and dry out directly on the vine, giving a Primitivo with a complex bouquet of red fruits, raisins and clear hints of marasca cherry. Aged in barriques this Primitivo Appassimento Rinforzato is a wine which remains in your memory for its strong character and great personality.

This Zinfandel is a bold wine grown from some of the oldest vines in California. Gnarly Head's untamed vines produce full-flavoured grapes, dense with aromas of blackberry bramble, juicy plum, and toasted oak.
