Handpicked from the higher terrace of the vineyard and fermented with indigenous yeast producing a wine with a silky layered texture providing interest and complexity. Burgundy in colour with a light crimson hue. Dried lavender and garigue, distinctly Te Muna perfume on the nose. An elegant palate with a warm core of brambled wild berries, porcini mushroom and red cherry in balance with the silk-laden tannins, which perfectly frame the wine. It speaks volumes to an incredible site.

Planted on the steep north-facing slopes of Bannockburn's Black Rabbit Vineyard, this single vineyard Pinot Noir is shaped by ancient schist bedrock more than 400 million years in the making. Hand-harvested, foot stomped and naturally fermented, it develops remarkable depth and character with minimal intervention. Aromas of blackberry, bramble and boronia lead into a brooding, layered palate with earthy savouriness, fine structure and a long, memorable finish. Built to enjoy now or reward careful cellaring for up to two decades.

The Empirical Central Otago Pinot Noir boasts bold dark berries and cherries, toasted spice and good soft structural tannins. Its bright mouth-filling fruit has a very opulent feeling. Good length and structure. Enjoy it now or age for 2-5 years.

Central Otago's cool climate consistently produces exceptional red fruit flavours of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, but with concentration and length to match. This wine is layered with black and red berry fruits, complemented by blossoming aromas of dark plum.

Expressive on the nose, with notes of violet and mulberry. On the palate, gentle tannins frame a core of red berry fruit, with just a touch of raspberry-ripple ice-cream. Juicy and fresh on the finish; the lasting impression is that of fresh-picked strawberries on a warm summer day. We have also changed the closure to a Diam 10 origine, using beeswax instead of synthetic glues to hold the fibers together, a more natural closure.

Batch fermented in small open-top tanks, it spends 6-9 months in 100% French Oak, the Gold River Pinot Noir offers exceptional quality and regionality at a good price.
