Blending the Maude Pinot Noir is one of their favourite and most important tasks. Each year, the magical blend from the Poison Creek and Mohawk Hill vineyards changes. Maintaining the pedigree of the Maude Pinot Noir is absolutely critical; but achieving this requires flexibility with both the blend as well as the technique as both vary with each vintage. Fragrant aromas of raspberry, strawberry and red plum. This vibrant fruit core is underpinned by savoury notes of green tea, spice and a delicious French oak toast. Beautiful fruit concentration on the palate complemented by fine tannin and balanced acidity ensure a deliciously long finish.

With minimal intervention winemaking, this Pinot Noir was naturally fermented, and hand plunged in open top fermenters with 10 - 25 per cent whole bunches. The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barriques and cuves, and went to bottle unfined and unfiltered with low sulphur. A further 16 months aging occurred in bottle before release. Aroma: raspberry, blueberry, cherry, savoury, earth. Palate: silk, chalk, finely structured, ethereal.

Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine. It has a perfumed nose of darks fruits, violets and liquorice with a hint of spice. Ripe berry, plum, cherry and chocolate show on the palate with a long sweet fruit finish. A great example of one of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs. Drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years.
